- debates can be angry or friendly, either way. In conversation, to say "talk about", "to have discussion about". eg. We can debate about that. (→ I don't agree with you, I don't think so, we can have a conversation about that.)

♠ During the business meeting I decided to mention a few things that were on my mind. And of course my colleagues and I had a debate about several of those issues.
